Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of the meaning of the concepts of conscience and shame in the English and Kazakh languages. It is noted that for the Kazakh culture, the meaning of the concepts of conscience and shame are above all other concepts. The reasons why these concepts are used as synonyms in the Kazakh language are identified. Based on a study of reference dictionaries in English, the works of William Godwin, Adam Smith, Josiah Royce, Einstein, Charles Darwin, George Edward Moore, and other thinkers written in English, it is noted that conscience and shame are separate concepts. If conscience depends on the spiritual world of a person, then shame depends on the feelings of a person. In this work, the content of the concepts of shame and conscience is covered. Questions are raised about the importance of these concepts for human life, why the beginning of culture begins with conscience and shame. Attention is drawn to the noble thoughts of great people about what human existence should be.
