Abstract

CD20 is a permanent marker of almost all stages of B-lymphocyte differentiation, with the exception of pro-B cells and plasma cells. The role and functions of this protein are not fully understood today, but it is known that it performs the functions of a calcium channel in cooperation with BCR to regulate all-important processes of B-lymphocytes: from proliferation and differentiation to antibody synthesis. Currently, insufficient attention is paid to the study of the CD20 receptor in the process of chronic viral diseases, although in medicine this molecule is used as an important component in the diagnosis of leukemia’s of various types. This study was aimed at studying the dynamics of B- lymphocytes and the expression level of CD20 receptors after experimental infection with bovine leukemia virus. The data obtained showed that the study of CD20 lymphocytes and CD20 receptor expression levels might be important in the diagnosis of leukemia, as well as be an additional criterion in the study of immune status in long-term chronic infections.
