Abstract

Background: Persimmon leaf (Diospyros kaki), green tea (Camellia sinensis), and sophora fruit (Sophora japonica) are traditional food sources known to prevent oxidative stress and inflammation. However, research on their effect in reducing hair loss is lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine whether an extract mading using these plants, BLH308 could help reduce hair loss.BRMethods and Results: The antioxidant activity of BLH308 in vitro was investigated as well as its anti-inflammatory effect in RAW 264.7 cells and its effect on the expression of 5-alpha reductase Ⅱ in human dermal papilla cells. BLH308 showed significant antioxidant activity owing to its ability to scavenge 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2
