Abstract

The article revisits approaches to the translation analysis of the text and its components at different stages of the development of the theory and practice of translation. The "cultural component" refers to the basic and immanent parameters of analysis, the study of which is relevant in today’s situation of changing translation activity. The article offers a broad and narrow understanding of this parameter, which makes it possible to identify the distinctive characteristics of this concept such as stability, ambiguity and multidimensionality, as well as to identify invariant and variable elements of the cultural component.
