Abstract
The mining industry is one of the foundations of modern civilization, providing raw materials for almost all areas of our lives, which includes exploration and extraction of minerals from the bowels of the earth. In recent years this industry has influenced the economic growth of many countries. The article analyzes the countries in the production and consumption of non-ferrous and precious metals, in particular the copper industry, the gold mining industry and the silver mining industry. The authors conclude that these industries are actively developing and their further growth can be predicted in the near future. The trend of transition to a sustainable economy, which consists in the introduction of new alternative energy sources, and also includes the production of machinery and equipment, has a great impact on the development of the mining industry. This trend is aimed at minimizing the negative impact on the environment and also contributes to more efficient use of RES.
