Abstract
The article deals with the issues of determining the level of spatial localization and inter-municipal polarization of rural areas of the Belgorod region. According to the main subsystems of spatial potential (labor, financial, infrastructural and social), the authors built ratings of municipal districts, reflecting their leadership or lag behind in various components. Using the relative magnitude of polarization, intermunicipal polarization was calculated by subsystems of spatial potential in the districts of the Belgorod region, and the total spatial potential for each district was calculated. The intermunicipal polarization, the total spatial potential and the degree of spatial localization of the districts of the Belgorod region are clearly presented in the form of cartograms. The interpretation of the results of the grouping is given and proposals are made for groups of municipalities with different levels of spatial potential.
