Abstract
The development of specialized education in the region will allow agricultural enterprises to move to an innovative development model and ensure the competitive advantages of the region in the long term. The work identified and analyzed higher educational institutions for agricultural purposes from the point of view of infrastructure development, level of education, staffing, introuction of digital technologies, from the point of view of their scientific potential, ability to solve social problems of the region and their reputation in general. The purpose of writing is to analyze the effectiveness of management of agricultural higher educational institutions in the regions of the Russian Federation, to identify possible measures to strengthen the agricultural profile of the region. The main results of the study consist in the theoretical and practical application of the regional higher education development index for the study of agricultural universities in different regions of the Russian Federation.
