Abstract

The article proposes an explication of the concept of “rational-critical thinking”, distinguishes the key skills and attitudes that make it up. It is shown that in modern conditions rational-critical thinking is the most important resource of human existence, providing both the opportunity to achieve genuine knowledge and protection from social manipulation. A characteristic of rationalcritical thinking as a synthetic “epistemic virtue” is proposed. The results of an experiment that assessed the basic logical culture of a student audience as a primary marker of rational-critical thinking are presented.
