Abstract

The article presents a stylistic analysis of Wole Soyinka’s early poem “Telephone Conversation”. The presented analysis allows to discover the most peculiar features of W. Soyinka’s idiostyle. The poem, the cultural affiliation of which presents obvious difficulties for the translator, has been published twice in Russian. The article provides a comparative analysis of the original text and its translations; as a result of the analysis, the means of expressiveness and tropes are revealed, which allow to convey formal and functional features of the poetic text in translation into Russian.
