The main results were as follows: First, the prospective health education teachers felt gaps between what they learned in the university and teaching practice in their practicum schools; Second, the prospective health education teachers felt limitations in their role as student teachers, both in conducting lessons of health education and providing student guidance; Third, the participants faced challenges in reconciling different educational philosophies between teachers at their practicum schools and fellow prospective health education teachers; Last, while conducting classes at the practicum schools, the participants were engaged in ongoing reflection and inquiry into the issues that teachers inevitably dealt with. The findings suggested several implications to improve school practicum for the professional development of pre-service teachers of health education.
