Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the impact of the production of aquatic biological resources on food security in the world. The place of industrial fishing and aquaculture in the system of food supply for the planet’s population has been determined. A rating of the world’s leading countries - producers of fishery and aquaculture products has been carried out. Based on a 40-year analysis, the main global trends in the production, consumption, export and import of fish and fish products are highlighted. It has been established that the increase in the physical volume of production of aquatic biological resources is significantly (by 1/3) ahead of the population growth in the world.
