Abstract
The article examines the current state of Russian-Georgian relations and assesses the level of impact on them of the war of historical memory, which is taking place in the post-Soviet space and, first of all, in the Caucasian region. Against the backdrop of the next anniversary of the Treaty of Georgievsk of 1783 (240th anniversary), an attempt is made to put together and revise the assessments and interpretations that exist today, while also identifying controversial points in the history of bilateral relations (over the last 3 centuries). All main periods and key dates that currently have opposite estimates in the two countries are highlighted. Factors hindering the development of bilateral relations are cited, and a number of proposals are given aimed at intensifying activities on this track.
