Abstract

The article presents previously unpublished documents on the rehabilitation of Archpriest Sergiy Andreevich Sakharov in the 1950s-1960s. The purpose of the article is an attempt to analyze the sequence of the rehabilitation process at the turn of the 1950s-1960s, using the example of Archpriest Sergiy Sakharov (shot in 1937 at the Butovo polygon). and on the basis of the results obtained, try to identify the main causes of the tragic events of the 1930s. 20th century Having before one’s eyes a detailed picture of church-state relations of the 20th century, the life of an individual clergyman often remains outside the field of historical research. At the same time, it is precisely the consideration of the life path of a “typical” rural priest that makes it possible to fully imagine the fate of many of his compatriots who completed their journey at the Butovo training ground in 1937. Reconstructing, on the basis of previously unpublished documents from the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the main stages of the rehabilitation of a typical representative of the clergy - Archpriest Sergei Andreevich Sakharov, the author makes an attempt to identify the main mechanisms and causes of the anti-church policy pursued by Stalin.
