Abstract

The paper presents the confirmation of the privilege rights of Metropolitan Moysi Petrović, issued by order of Emperor Karl VI through the Court War Council in 1727. Since the privileges were provisional and personal acts, the rights and status of the Serb people were resolved in accordance with the state raisons of the Habsburg Monarchy during the 18th century, the issue of privileges became particularly complicated after the Peace of Passarowitz. After a series of ruler’s acts which were related to the Kingdom of Serbia and the Banat of Temeswar, as well as those that related to the entire Serb people in the Habsburg Monarchy and, in addition, the acute issue of the metropolitan's income, a confirmation was issued to the metropolitan that in terms of all previous acts and in accordance with them, he can enjoy the recognized rights unhindered. Key Words: Belgrade–Karlowitz Metropolitanate, the Habsburg Monarchy, Administration, Privileges, 18th Century.
