Abstract

The article considers the concept of polycode text in the theoretical aspect. Modern trends in studying polycode text as a synthetic phenomenon, which includes signs of various semiotic systems, are analysed. Musical video clips, movies, Internet texts are considered as polycode texts; advertising texts are mostly of polycode nature. The concepts “creolized text” and “polycode text” are compared. It is shown that the key issue while studying polycode text is a problem of its adequate understanding. Polycode text functions in each of modern cultural spaces, in any developed language, therefore, its studies are of universal nature.
