Abstract

The paper presents methodological tools developed by the author for assessing the effectiveness of regulation and the balance of the region industrial development by determining its promising industrial specialization. The methodology is based on the calculation of the coefficients of localization and growth of industrial types of economic activity in the region, comparing their dynamics. The use of the developed methodological tools makes it possible to obtain not only a numerical assessment of the specialization of the region, which can be used for the purposes of comparative analysis in the spatial planning of the location of production and the development of appropriate regional investment strategies, but also a reasonable analytical conclusion on the effectiveness of regulating industrial development in the region. The indisputable advantages of the developed methodological tools include the simplicity of its application, the unambiguity of the obtained assessment, the availability of algorithmization possibilities for its interpretation. At the same time, it should be noted that the results obtained indicate not only the level of the current, but also the prospective specialization of the region, since in addition to the indicator of industrial production, the main factors of growth that determine its dynamics are also taken into account.
