Abstract

The article is devoted to identifying the value core of culture, reflected in the chronicles of the Khori Buryats. The necessity to address the value bases is conditioned by such current trends as the loss of traditional culture, substitution of universal values by utilitarian ones. The appeal to chronicle sources is explained not only by the interest in the history of the ethnos, but also by the relevance of reproducing cultural values reflected in chroni-cles in the modern world. The research material was the chronicles of the Khori Buryats, published in the Buryat and Russian languages. The axiological approach made it possible to consider the chronicle heritage in the aspect of humanism and universal values. The research methodology is presented by general scientific meth-ods of analysis and synthesis, special methods of value-ontological analysis at the level of value attitudes of the authors of the works. As a result, the value core of culture reflected in the chronicle heritage is revealed: the value of native land and connection with the people, community as the basis of patriotism, the value of religion as a source of knowledge and virtue.
