Abstract

This article examines the social and demographic situation in the rural areas of the Republic of Buryatia. It was revealed that the position of the modern rural society, the main trends of its social change has affected not only the processes that occurred in the country in the 90-ies of the last century, but also more of the early Soviet period. Based on the analysis of the statistics shows the main features of the demographic situation in rural areas: depopulation, gender imbalance, aging of the population.
