Abstract

The authors analyzed the international and domestic experience of labeling ecological and organic food products. The features of the development of individual segments of the food market in terms of labeling of food products are highlighted. The study of Russian legislation made it possible to distinguish two levels of federal brands of ecological purity of products: «Organic» (for organic products) and « Green standard » (for products with improved characteristics). Attention is drawn to the fact that significant costs of producers at the stage of transition from the traditional to the organic model of management hinder the development of the market, since the price of products with improved characteristics cannot be increased until the appropriate labeling is obtained. In this regard, the authors proposed to supplement the labeling system with a special regional sign used during the transition period – «PRODNAT» (natural product). This marking will indicate a higher quality of the regional product and the manufacturer’s commitment to pass certification for federal brands within a few years.
