Abstract

The research aims to reveal the content side of disgust, which makes it possible to consider it an aesthetic reaction in a broad sense. The paper reviews content-oriented and axiological approaches to the study of disgust. The scientific novelty of the research lies in adding the criteria of underestimation, deformation and distance from potential objects of aesthetic pleasure to the minimal definition of the notion of disgust. As a result, it has been proved that the content side of disgust reflects the conflict of the subjective, objective factors of its analysis and instances of the disgusting in art and cinema, which provides an expanded interpretation of the reactivity of disgust.
