Abstract

Today, the problem of overcoming corruption is acute for all public authorities, but its existence in local self-government bodies has dangerous consequences, because corruption manifestations in the activities of the police undermine public confidence in public authorities, which are the closest to the population. The article considers the main causes of corruption in local self-government bodies, the most common types of abuse of power, defines the components of the administrative and legal mechanism and provides a description of measures to prevent corruption in local self-government bodies. Combating corruption in local self-government bodies requires a systematic approach and the application of a set of scientifically based measures, in the process of implementation of which one of the main areas of activity, in our opinion, should be active work to identify, promote and implement in practice the moral and ethical principles of the functioning of the public service as an institution for providing management services to citizens and legal entities.
