Abstract
A comprehensive study of the historical and cultural features of the well-known and at the same time undeservedly forgotten village ofDroskovo in the Oryol region was carried out. As a result of this research, an assessment was given of the activities of Sofronov Fyodor Vasilyevich-one of the organizers of the cultural upsurge in the Russian hinterland at the junction of the XIX and XX centuries.
