Abstract

Purpose. To analyze the postoperative IOL displacements toward the haptic plane using ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). Material and methods. Biometry data of 172 patients (211 eyes) 71.32 ± 7.75 years old were analyzed, among whom 41.25% were men. IOL position were analyzed at 1 and 3 months after standard phacoemulsification. Results. The IOL was visualized with UBM. Stabilization of lens position was observed by the 3rd month of observation. The displacement of optical part IOL in forward was determined in 24.95%, backward – in 16.57% of cases. Eyes with opposite IOL displacements differed significantly in crystalline lens diameter, ciliary sulcus diameter and the power of implanted IOL. Conclusions. An important technique in the search for possible causes of changes in postoperative refraction is visualization of IOL displacement. The number of displacements of the intraocular lens increases by 3 months, which may cause in visual acuity changes.
