Abstract

The purpose of the research is to substantiate the necessity of using a travelogue at the English language classes as a means of forming cross-culture communicative competence of the students of the 10-11th forms (philological class of Humanities). In the article the notion of ‘cross-culture communicative competence of high school students’ and ‘travelogue as a speech genre’ are specified; the travelogue potential for forming the cross-culture communicative competence of high school students is revealed; the stages of using a travelogue teaching technology are introduced. The scientific novelty lies in working out the travelogue teaching technology as a means of forming cross-culture communicative competence of philological class students. As the result, the criteria of travelogue selection for teaching English for high school students have been clarified; the difficulties of using the selected videos when teaching high school students have been defined; a step-by-step technology of using travelogue as a means of forming cross-culture communicative competence have been introduced.
