Abstract

The COVID-19 situation has unexpectedly forced universities to apply blended learning, a combination of traditional offline and online learning, to both the theoretical and practical classes. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the cases of practical classes in universities that applied blended learning in a non-in-person situation and to find out problems and future improvements. For this purpose, three practical and laboratory courses in three departments (Sports Science, Nursing, and Dental Hygiene) of S University were selected, and the operating procedures, class satisfaction, operating limitations, and improvement plans were presented, focusing on class cases. As a result of studying the problems focusing on the cases of blended learning practical classes, the lack of online contents, difficulties in communication and interaction, gap between the quality of education and reality, and problems with student motivation were found and measures for improvements were found. The need for establishing practical education models and strategies at the university level, specific standards and management guidelines, sharing and standardization of educational contents, and training on learning methods was presented.
