Abstract
Purpose: This study was aimed at preparing basic data needed to improving healthcare services in subordinate medical unit in Republic of Korea Army division. For that purpose, this study investigated nursing officers'' vocational guidance experiences for subordinate medical unit. Methods: This study was based on a Colaizzi''s phenomenological qualitative study using individual in-depth interviews, and data were collected from 6 army nurses with experiences as nursing officers in army division medical facilities. Results: The 5 categories of ''planning a visit tailored to the subordinate unit'', ''starting with visit but ending with censorship'', ''facing the indifference and lack of expertise'', ''ending the visit with correction'', and ''accepting the guidance visit as nurses calling'' were obtained. Conclusion: This study analyzed the phenomenon of vocational guidance visit for the healthcare personnel in subordinate medical units without nurses. Therefore, it has value as a scientific basis to develop educational materials for military division nursing officers in the future. Furthermore, the result illuminates the need of estimating military division nursing officers'' work on vocational guidance visit.
