Abstract

A recovery boiler is used in pulp and paper production and is an important element of the chemical regeneration cycle of sulphate pulp production. It is designed to regenerate, i.e. restore the properties, of black liquor used up in the brewing process. The black liquor is regenerated by burning it in the furnace of the recovery boiler. It is a complex power engineering facility, as it combines a chemical reactor and a steam power boiler unit. In addition, the recovery boiler is highly explosive. In this connection, the automation of the processes in this power plant plays a special role. In this paper, a model related to the black liquor combustion stage in the furnace of a recovery boiler is developed based on data from pulp and paper mills.
