Abstract

The paper discusses the issue of developing civic consciousness in children and young people. The paper is based on the materials of the fundamental research project entitled “Development of conceptual foundations for the formation of historical memory and citizenship of children and youth”, which was carried out by the authors at Altai State Pedagogical University under government assignment No. 073-00087-22-02 of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. The paper provides a detailed description of the concepts of “civic consciousness” and “civic consciousness development”, as well as their definitions. The authors propose a solution to the methodological problem of developing social indicators for evaluating civic consciousness in children and young people. The paper defines the scope of practical application of said indicators in organizing the educational process in general education institutions.
