Abstract

The paper examines the issue of a person’s alienation using the novel “Minor Detail” by the Palestinian writer Adania Shibli as an example. The researcher proves that alienation from the outside world helps the heroine to strive for personal freedom. The study aims to provide insight into the issue of alienation of Palestinians in Adania Shibli’s novel “Minor Detail”. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the paper is the first to carry out a comprehensive analysis of this work through the lens of the alienation technique. As a result, it has been determined that the technique of removing characters from public life and depersonalising them makes it possible to delve into the essence of the Arab-Israeli conflict and create a realistic picture of the Palestinian life in the late XX - early XXI century.
