Abstract

The article is devoted to highlighting a brief history and describing individual scientific achievements of the Department of Literary Studies. It is noted that the first attempts at literary analysis of works of art by Bashkir writers were made at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. But the formation of the science of national verbal art is closely connected with the formation and development of the Institute of History, Language and Literature, which previously bore the names "Society for the Study of Bashkiria" (1922) and "Institute of National Culture" (1932). In the pre-war period, the staff of the department was mainly engaged in the study of the work of such wellknown Soviet writers in those years as A. Tagirov, D. Yulty and T. Yanabi, preparations began for the publication of a complete collection of works by the national poet M. Gafuri and a one-volume poem by the poet G. Salam. A wide-ranging study of the theory and history of Bashkir literature began in the 1950s and 1960s, when such qualified specialists as G.Z. Ramazanov, G.B. Khusainov, M.F. Gaiin and others. Achievements of the staff of the department are reflected in the following works: “History of the Bashkir Soviet Literature. Essays” (1968, in Bashkir) and “History of Bashkir Soviet Literature” (1977). Notable phenomena in the study of the history and theory of national literature were the works of A.I. Kharisov "Literary heritage of the Bashkir people. XVIII-XIX centuries» (1965), K.A. Akhmedyanov "Theory of Literature" (1971), A.Kh. Vakhitov "Genre and style in Bashkir prose" (1982), S.G. Safuanov "International Relations of Bashkir Literature" (1979), A.Kh. Vildanov and G.S. Kunafin "Bashkir enlighteners-democrats of the 19th century" (1981). In the 70-80s, when archeographic research began to be carried out systematically, the department, under the scientific guidance of Professor G.B. Khusainov, began writing a multi-volume history of national literature, and as a result, 6 volumes of the History of Bashkir Literature were published in 1990-1996 (in Bashkir). In recent years, the staff of the department under the leadership of M.Kh. Nadergulov prepared and published "The History of Bashkir Literature" in 3 volumes in Russian language, the 7th volume of the publication in the Bashkir language, dedicated to the literature of the post-Soviet period, 3 volumes of the "Anthology of Bashkir Literature" and more than 20 monographs on the theory and history of the national verbal art. Researchers F.S. Fazylova and F.B. Yunusova prepared and published a complete collection of works by the people's poet of Bashkortostan M. Karim in 11 volumes.
