Abstract
The purpose of the article is to study the social activities of Grand Duchess Elizaveta Fedorovna Romanova in Orel province. The author gives an assessment of her impact on various aspects of the social economic life of the region in the late 19th – early 20th century. The research methodology is based on the historical-systemic approach, in which the social reality in a certain historical period of time is understood as a set of interrelated objects in constant interaction and is an integral, systemic formation. The chronological method allows to study the social activities of Elizaveta Fedorovna in Orel province in a time sequence based on the reconstruction of events related to one of the Romanovs in the life of Orel region. Finally, the author pays special attention to the charitable activity of the Grand Duchess, her support the population in need and soldiers.
