Abstract
Improving the environmental performance of diesel engines is becoming an urgent problem for the traction rolling stock of JSC “Russian Railways”. In order to solve this problem, the article analyzes the possibilities of converting diesel engines of locomotives to gas engine fuel. The requirements for the physical and chemical parameters of compressed natural gas are presented. The analysis of manufacturers of gas cylinder equipment operating in the Russian market is given. Real examples of conversion of diesel engines to gas engine fuel are given, which can be used in modernization of fuel systems of traction rolling stock of Russian railways.
