Abstract

The article analyzes the main stages and directions of Islamic studies in modern Bashkortostan as one of the most multi-confessional and Muslim-oriented regions of the Russian Federation. The empirical material collected in preparation for the publication of the corresponding prosopographical dictionary allows the author to identify the main stages of the formation of a relatively new direction of Russian social studies — Islamic studies within the Republic of Bashkortostan. The leading directions of Islamic studies that have developed in the region at the present stage are also highlighted, and the work of some of the most prominent personalities specializing in this field is characterized, religious figures and secular scientists.
