Русский язык в европейском контексте (по материалам лексикографических источников XVIII-XIX веков)

Abstract

The necessity to study the Russian language was determined by trade relations between European and Russian merchants. It led to writing some text books and dictionaries in the XVI century. The article provides the facts which prove the further interaction of the Russian language and European ones. It was connected with publishing lexicographic books and dictionaries, in particular. The authors point out the time and periods when the dictionaries were published most frequently. Moreover, the varieties of the readers as well of the books are analyzed. Bilingual and multilingual dictionaries (Russian, French and some other European languages) were published in the XVIII-XIX centuries. The authors of the article stress the increase of the new editions at the end of the XVIII century, in the 1840s and at the turn of XX century. Social and historical processes of Russia – public awareness campaign of the Academy of Science, establishment of new universities and professional societies – were depicted in dictionaries of that time. The Russian language was penetrating European lingual scope.
