The formal-grammatical structure of a complex word in the Chinese language, which is characterized by a “prepositive arrangement of dependent components,” determines the position of the verbal productive stem in the second position, and the additional member in the first position. Therefore, we believe that the main producing basis for a verb constructed according to the attributive model is the second component; in the vast majority of words it is of a verbal nature. If the core of the meaning of a complex verb is primarily the semantics of the second component of the verb, then the qualitative basis, representing the signs of the action, shows the characteristics of the action from different points of view.
