Abstract

Using MCVD-technology, radiation-resistant multimode optical fibers based on fluorosilicate glass with a gradient refractive index profile were developed. Radiation-induced attenuation of light (RIA) in the fibers was compared with the literature data on analoguous fibers manufactured by the PCVD-technoogy. It was found out that RIA in the MCVD-fibers at the wavelength λ=1310 nm under γ-irradiation at doses of up to 10 kGy is 1-2 dB/km (19%-29%) lower than RIA in Super RadHard fiber produced by the PCVD-technology and previously supposed to have record-high radiation resistance.
