Abstract
One of the most common oncological diseases in small pets is a breast tumor [1, 8, 15]. In cats, this pathology ranks third in frequency of occurrence. Timely treatment can improve the quality of life and increase the life expectancy of the animal [6, 17]. In this regard, the purpose of our work was to compare the effectiveness of several methods of treating tumors of the mammary glands in cats. Scientific and practical work was carried out based on the Department of Infectious and Non-Infectious Pathology of the Ural State Agrarian University and in the veterinary clinic "Doveriye", samples for histological examination obtained after extirpation of tumors were prepared and processed at the Department of Morphology and Expertise of the Ural State Agrarian University. The duration of the study was 1 year in the period from 2022 to 2023. During this time, methods for the treatment of mammary gland neoplasms in cats were studied, and the effectiveness of the methods used was analyzed. Treatment regimens in the study groups were selected considering anamnestic data, as well as based on the histological diagnosis. Based on the conducted research, it is possible to diagnose and treat neoplasms in cats more effectively, which determines the scientific novelty of this work. During the study, the most common malignant neoplasms were adenocarcinomas. Oncological diseases are more common in cats that have not had an ovariohysterectomy. Life expectancy, after performing a unilateral mastectomy in animals of the 1st experimental group with stage I–II breast cancer, did not decrease due to the presence of the disease. The most effective is the use of complex treatment of malignant neoplasms of the mammary glands, compared with the use of surgical intervention alone. The use of chemotherapy after surgical treatment allowed to increase the life expectancy of animals of the 4 experimental groups.
