Abstract

The importance of trust in journalism stems not only from the fact that it helps shape public opinion or guide it along a certain vector, but also from the fact that this branch of social activity influences trust in the media sys-tem as a whole and plays a key role in fostering similar attitudes toward other social institutions. The article con-tains a comparison of the main factors that determine the level of trust of Syrian and Russian youth in journal-ists, along with determining the degree of influence of each factor on the process of forming this trust. In order to identify the socio-psychological features of Youth Trust in journalists, general scientific theoretical methods, experimental and comparative methods were used. Based on the statistical analysis of the data obtained, it is concluded that the trust of Russian and Syrian youth in journalists is based on knowledge, calculation and iden-tity, these factors explain 99 % of the level of trust of Russian and Syrian youth in journalists. But the Russian youth’s trust in journalists is based on more knowledge than the Syrian youth.
