Abstract

The analysis of thefunctions of the concept «woe», its role in shaping the perception of the ideological and philosophical content of the story are carried out. A semantic series of lexemes that actualize the main content of the basic concept of «woe» is revealed, and a description of the ways of explicating the concept is given. As a result of the study, the author comes to the conclusion about the importance of the image of the author-narrator and the lyrical plot associated with it in revealing the idea of the story, determining the style of the work, its rhetoric and the peculiarities ofpoetics in general.
