Abstract

The paper presents the current situation in the transport complex of the Russian Far East. It is shown that the load on the macro-region’s transport has significantly increased as a result of the «pivot to the East» policy and the reorientation of foreign trade flows since spring 2022. The following key problems of the transport complex of the Far East have been identified: the deficit of carrying capacity of the Eastern polygon of railways, the mismatch between the capabilities of rail and sea transport, the lag between the rate of infrastructure development and the rate of growth in demand for transportation, the imbalance of rolling stock, and the unpredictable mode of operation of cross-border infrastructure. The following is considered as directions for the development of the transport complex in the near future: development of equipment for checkpoints across the state border at the constructed road and railway bridges between Russia and China, application of digitalization tools, improvement of organizational and technical elements of the transport process.
