Abstract

This study aims to analyze correlations and casual relations among such variables as environmental consciousness, environmental teaching anxiety and environmental teaching efficacy in 202 elementary pre-service teachers through structural equation modeling. When analyzing correlations of measurement variables over such latent variables as environmental consciousness, environmental teaching anxiety and environmental teaching efficacy, this study discovered statistically significant positive correlations among all the measurement variables. Tentative models were established to understand casual relations among the three kinds of latent variables depending on strcutural equation modeling, and all the TLI, CFE and RMSEA indices were found to be in satisfactory levels and even statistically significant through the path analysis. Out of all the tentative models, one that environmental consciousness affects environmental teaching anxiety, and environmental teaching anxiety affects environmental teaching efficacy was determined as the final model. To find out whether environmental teaching anxiety works as a mediator, this study found out that when environmental consciousness statistically significantly intervenes between environmental consciousness and environmental teaching efficacy, it explains relations between the two variables better.
