Abstract
The purpose of the article is to analyze the prob-lems that arise in adapting the provisions of the liberal political and legal doctrine to Russian reality. The authors pay attention to the historical peculiarities of the development of liberalism in Russia, and analyzes the factors that hinder its dissemination and approval as a state ideology. The authors compare the relevant historical experi-ence with the difficulties typical for the development of domestic liberalism in modern realities. As a result, the authors identify the as-pects of liberal teaching that are most difficult to adapt to Russian realities and the causes of such difficulties by analyzing of historical documents and doctrinal provisions, as well as the phenomena inherent in modern public consciousness and the main characteristics of modern state.
