Abstract
The formation of patriotism of the younger generation today is one of the sig-nificant problems of the state and society. Multipolarity of the opinions, judgements, world and interethnic conflicts make adolescents’ socialization and self-determination difficult. Functioning of the entire system of patriotic education and the purposeful activities of the social institutions intended to do that is significant in these conditions. The article considers the experience of Kyakhta museum of local histo-ry of the academician V.A. Obruchev in the personality’s formation, patriot-ism, spiritual and moral development. The work provides the results of study-ing the schoolchildren of Kyakhta, their assessment of some forms of the mu-seum work.
