Abstract

The study of the work of the historian Nikolai Ivanovich Ulyanov in modern Russia is analysed on the example of the works of the doctor of historical sciences P. N. Bazanov. The main attention is paid to the monograph «”Peteropolsky Tacitus“ in exile», as the most typical scientific research. Biographies of Russian emigrants reveal the features of the contribution of compatriots to world culture. The relevance of the history of the culture of the Russian emigration is shown. The main trends in the study of the history of the culture of the Russian emigration are revealed. The strengths and weaknesses of modern historical science and cultural studies are shown. An explanation is given for the steady interest in the work of N. I. Ulyanov.
