Abstract

The article highlights the activities carried out at the turn of the 1970–1980s by the collective of teachers of Gnesin educational institutions who conducted the study of Russian music education. The problem of interrelation and continuity of the three links of the national music education system appeared as one of the central ones. The goals and principles of collective work, the organization and content of the process are revealed; examples of test materials and tasks offered to students, variants of evaluation criteria are given; the final results of the project are summarized. It is noted not only the historical value of the work carried out, but also the relevance of this experience for improving modern music education in our country.
