Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to explore the leisure enjoyment beliefs, enjoyment methods, and meaning of life of active seniors participating in Pilates. A grounded theory approach was used as a research method. The subjects were 8 people who participated in Pilates for more than 2 years in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. After collecting the enjoyment beliefs and enjoyment methods of the active seniors, the study subjects, the data from the in-depth interviews were continuously analyzed according to the procedures of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding using the grounded theory approach. Therefore, it was confirmed that active senior women participating in Pilates lead a satisfactory life through their own healthy activities before entering middle age or old age, and expand the meaning of life by harmonizing their beliefs and ways of enjoying physically and mentally.
