Abstract
The article gives the genesis of ideas about the social ideal, the ideal structure of the state and society, social utopias, Marxism, liberalism at the integrative level of historical, philosophical and socio- political teachings. The essence of the concept of the social ideal is revealed, its huge potential, which is fi xed in social, moral norms and traditional spiritual values. The social ideal is important for the identifi cation of a person in the process of learning and socialization. The conducted research made it possible to identify problem areas in the spiritual, moral and civil- patriotic education of Russian youth. In particular, it can be noted the lack of knowledge among modern students about the diffi cult pages of Russian history, about its heroes in the past and present, about traditional spiritual and moral values, etc.
