Abstract

The process of destruction of materials under mechanical action (impact) was investigated. To register and visualize the process of destruction, a mechanoluminescent composite material based on transparent in the visible region of the spectrum glue and powder of a phosphor was used. The composite material was applied to the surface of the material under study. It is shown that the mechanoluminescent layer is sensitive to cracks formed in the sample upon impact and allows visualizing the process of their formation and growth with good resolution.
