Abstract

The aim of the study is to construct a pedagogical model for forming professional competencies among young specialists of the law enforcement agencies through mentoring. The paper discusses variable models aimed at achieving this pedagogical goal proposed and tested by modern scientists and specialists in the field of methodology and technology of vocational education, taking into account departmental specifics, analyses the structure and content of the models. The scientific novelty of the study lies in proposing a theoretical pedagogical model for forming professional competencies among young specialists of the law enforcement agencies through mentoring based on the author’s own pedagogical experience, the experience of other researchers in the context of regulatory requirements for the results of educational training of police officers, the requirements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the organisation of mentoring and the potential of variability of mentoring models. In addition, the main components of the author’s model are characterised. As a result of the study, it has been found that in the scientific literature, there are reliable confirmations of the positive impact of mentoring on the formation of professional competencies among young specialists of the law enforcement agencies, therefore, the developed pedagogical model can be recommended for testing in practice to verify its effectiveness.
