Abstract

In case of corneal ulcers of various origin that are difficult for medical treatment, urgent surgery is indicated, including the usage of plastic materials. In the absence of them, the surgery of choice is conjunctival autoplasty of the cornea. Recent modifications of such surgical procedure don’t rule out complications as early dislocation of the flap and the progress of infection under it. A comparative analysis of the technique and outcomes of the applied autoconjunctival plasty with a pedunculated flap and the proposed modification of the procedure, performed in 9 patients, was carried out. It is concluded that the operation is a simple and effective method of eliminating corneal ulcers and ulcers complicated by descemetocele and corneal microperforation. Keywords: cornea, ulcerative defect, deepithelialization, autoconjunctival plasty.
